SPONSOR A HORSE

Why be a Horse Sponsor?

Horse Sponsorships are very important as they help to support the backbone of all of Equinimity's programs: the wonderful horses! Horse Sponsors help to provide the necessary funding to keep our special herd happy and healthy.

As you may imagine, caring for horses can be a very expensive endeavor. Each of our wonderful horses requires a typical investment of $4,500 to $6,000 per year. This cost includes grain, hay, bedding, tack, shoeing, supplements, farrier (hoof care), dental, and veterinary costs. In addition to the finances required to provide the necessities to keep them healthy and fed, there is also the cost of manpower hours to exercise, groom and care for the herd.

It is important to recognize that relative safety in our modern environment is not universally accessible due to legacies of power and oppression. Histories of marginalization and colonization, systemic oppression such as racism, classism, ableism, and queer/trans phobia, and the continued legacies of patriarchy create conditions whereby our social and physiological survival capacities are misused to maintain oppression. We work to recognize that oppression is trauma. We practice in service of healing trauma on individual and collective levels so that we may all be free, and work toward responsibly stewarding right relationship to our planet, our times, and one another.
