Some of you have already had a chance to meet Kathy Sawyer who joined our team in March. She works with Barbara and Jeanie and is helping us in several areas ranging from business & program development to community outreach and operational support.
Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, she and her family (3 children, 2 dogs, 1 husband) have lived in Tucson since 2004, after stints in New York City and Chicago. She developed a strong interest in the importance of intercultural communication as a Foreign Affairs major at the University of Virginia and developed that further, getting an MBA from the Thunderbird School of International Business.

Prior to joining our team, she worked for several years with Barbara Rector and The Hacienda at the River to launch and expand their “In the Presence of Horses” program for seniors, specializing in working with dementia & Alzheimer residents and their families. She became programming director and was able to develop a whole range of integrative wellness programs for the entire campus over the course of about five years. She says “getting to be a part of the Equinimity team brings together so many different interests and passions for me—creating community, being part of an entrepreneurial environment, working with people of all ages and getting to hang out with the beautiful six members of our equine herd!!”
We met Kathy through her innovative work at The Hacienda at the River. Her joyful energy, enthusiasm, and big picture thinking is a welcomed addition to the Equinimity team. We are very much looking forward to growing together.
Please do not hesitate to introduce yourself to her the next time you’re here!
