Sensory Integration: Development of the Sense of Knowing
Our senses provide a stable platform upon which we can endeavor to make sense of the world around us while simultaneously shape our sense of Self in any given moment.
If a child’s sensory system doesn’t make sense to them, that child cannot make sense of the world. It’s like trying to build a house on an unsteady platform.
In order to make sense of the world, children need access to their senses in non-overwhelming ways.
Designed for parents or anyone working with children, this 90 minute fun, informative, interactive and experiential course, co-taught by Heidi Johnson and Barbara Collier, will cover:
If your child or a child that you work with seems stressed, irritable, volatile, has difficulty sleeping, gets irritated with certain clothing or just seems overwhelmed, or if your child or a child that you work with been diagnosed with a sensory processing disorder this course might be useful to you.

Nervous System 101:
At the heart of stress, overwhelm, and many medical and psychological diagnoses is a nervous system out of balance. A nervous system that has been on overdrive in fight, flight or freeze for too long. When we understand the basics of our human physiology, it leads to greater agency, compassion, and connection with ourselves and those in our lives. If you or someone in your life is affected by stress, trauma, or overwhelm, come join us and learn about the language of the autonomic nervous system so that you can have greater understanding of how to support wellbeing in your life and those around you.
monthly Somatic rhythm and movement practice: Connect to the rhythm of the body.
All of life has qualities of rhythm, flow, and movement. This series of classes is offered to support connection to these qualities in ourselves and support the vitality of embodied movement. Come join us for a monthly sampling of movement practices that support people in developing and exploring ways to access rhythm, flow, and embodied presence inside themselves. Most classes will be held outside, weather permitting.
Qi Gong with Horses
(March class for our somatic movement series)
Qi Gong is the 5,000 year old study and practice of cultivating and balancing life-force energy through movement, meditation, breath, and mental focus. While there are many different forms of Qi Gong, each is fundamentally intended to bring balance and harmony to the natural flow of energies in our bodies.
We will explore the form called Six Harmonies: Body harmonizes with Mind, Mind harmonizes with Intent, Intent harmonizes with Chi, Chi harmonizes with Shen, Shen harmonizes with Movement, Movement harmonizes with Emptiness.
Weather permitting, we will do this outside with the horses. Please wear close-toe shoes, bring a hat and water. If you have not been before, please arrive 15 minutes early to sign in and fill out paperwork.

Ba Gua:
(April class for our somatic movement series)
Heidi Johnson, Movement Education Teacher at the Tucson Waldorf School, will lead us through the warm up practices of the Ba Gua Zhang.
Formally called Ba Gua Zhang - Ba Gua is an internal martial art that was developed more than 4000 years ago in Taoist monasteries primarily for health and meditation. It is considered an internal energy art because the initial training focuses on breath, meditation and movement.
Ba Gua employs the whole body with movements that balance and harmonize the internal energies (Qi). Balanced unity in motion is at the heart of Ba Gua, characterized by constant change and motion.
“Change is at the heart of life. Bagua zhang practice is about learning to flow with change rather than against it. If you can Master the Art of Change, you will become capable of overcoming obstacles in your life and allow happiness and joy to emerge from within your being.” - Bruce Frantzis
This class will focus on internal opening up, coordination, breath, and meditative movement versus martial applications and postures.

full moon gatherings
Full Moon Circle:
We take this time every lunar cycle to come together in spirit of connecting to the sacred rhythms of the planet and align with the moon’s potency to usher change. We welcome in what is nourishing, and let go of what is no longer needed. Situated around a fire, each full moon ritual will be facilitated with reflective and interconnected practices to witness and honor change at the individual, interpersonal, community, planetary, and cosmic level. Please feel free to bring anything you would like to contribute to a community altar.
