Trauma-informed expressive arts

Everyone can express themselves through art. We are here to facilitate tapping into your creativity and support your creative growth through the art making process. Continuing with expressive arts you will find it supports your journey of self-discovery. It is a spiritual process of getting out of our head and into our heart, leaning into what wants to emerge from your depths.

No matter the medium you may experience:
Flow state
Balance
Grounding
Presence
Fun
Surprise
Personal Insights
Observer mind
A different state of presence
More ease in your body

Over a series of session you may notice increased:
Problem solving abilities
Confidence in dealing with life’s obstacles
Acceptance of what is
Capacity to experience intense emotions and sensations

“Art making defies time.”  -- Russell Kahn

All About Horses

This class will explore the horse in different media.  We will be looking at a horse manikin, horse bones (that have been collected over the years), and also (the best) “live” horses . We will spend each 3 hr block working  in 2D ( drawing and other media) and 3D (clay). In the sessions, the clay pieces will be bisqued and glazed. We will be working under a tent/canopy and there will be outdoor lights for the evening classes.  Focus will be on self expression and finding ones voice with art materials. Basic materials provided.

Dates: This class has three sessions scheduled on Thursday - December 15, 22, and 29
Time: 3 pm to 5 pm
Location: Classes are on-site at Equinimity held under the canopy. There will be make up sessions in case of inclement weather.
Fee for all 3 sessions:
Community Rate (adjusted) $115 - Click here to register

It is important to recognize that relative safety in our modern environment is not universally accessible due to legacies of power and oppression. Histories of marginalization and colonization, systemic oppression such as racism, classism, ableism, and queer/trans phobia, and the continued legacies of patriarchy create conditions whereby our social and physiological survival capacities are misused to maintain oppression. We work to recognize that oppression is trauma. We practice in service of healing trauma on individual and collective levels so that we may all be free, and work toward responsibly stewarding right relationship to our planet, our times, and one another.
